Chapter 105 Long live Brainiac!
Chapter 105 Long live Brainiac!
Chapter 105 Long live Brainiac!
Jason Todd sneaked into the Bat Cave.
He knew everything here too well; it was exactly the same as when he left.
It certainly wasn't the one beneath Wayne Manor; he had already explored that area and found nothing.
The Batcomputer's records show that it hasn't been operating for a long time, and it's clear that for unknown reasons, his adoptive father, Bruce Wayne, hasn't been there for some time to pursue his superhero career.
But he still left a red hood there as a mark of his return.
After he returned to Gotham and stirred up trouble, he waited night after night on the top of Gotham's tallest tower for Batman's arrival.
According to his calculations, Batman should have reacted to his actions within an hour and been able to find him within three hours.
He was both excited and terrified, mentally reviewing what he was going to say to Batman over and over again. A burning anger surged within him, keeping him awake all night.
And then... I waited in vain.
Batman didn't come at all.
Then the next day, he discovered that Bruce Wayne was already far away in Metropolis.
Penguin, Two-Face, and a man named Lincoln March have gathered a large group of Arkham villains to rule the city and dominate the underworld. But strangely, instead of having a wild party, they have asked everyone to remain silent for two months.
This is very unusual.
Therefore, in recent days, while continuously expanding his influence in the underworld, he has been constantly returning to the branch bases he built with Batman, trying to find some triggers that led to Batman's change.
He's no longer the impulsive, emotional Jason Todd he once was; he's learned to think. He won't be foolish enough to confront Batman, this terrifying man who's like both a father and a teacher, before he's gathered all the intelligence and made thorough preparations.
Jason subconsciously touched the red hood he had placed in his backpack. His expression softened slightly beneath the hood, but it quickly returned to its coldness.
In every Batcave outpost he entered, his Robin uniform was always displayed at the forefront. This detail offered him some comfort, but it didn't stop him from leaving the red hood over that Robin uniform in every outpost he visited.
Those simple, pure, and beautiful days are gone forever. Jason Todd is dead; only Red Hood, a cold-blooded and cruel executioner, remains.
Jason Todd shook his head, deciding not to think about it anymore. He looked towards the entrance and quietly pushed the door open.
This branch base should be one too. Jason was already prepared to go in, then he put the red hood on—
"I am Robin, Batman's favorite!"
Jason froze.
He tiptoed to close the door, then, in a very bat-like posture, clung to the wall and hung upside down from the ceiling. He then climbed around the corner and peered out...
He saw the Robin costume he so cherished and treasured, now worn on the drunken Penguin's enormous belly, with the Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and Two-Face sitting beside him—
Wait, what's wrong with his face?
However, Jason wasn't in the mood to care about that.
His eyes widened in horror as he stared at it.
"Hehehehe...I—am—"
The world seemed to slow down, and he saw the penguin's lips tremble.
Don't say those kinds of things!!!
"—Batman's favorite Robin!"
"Hahaha, Oswald, I can't take it anymore."
Then Jason heard the Riddler, known for his intelligence, speak in a slurred, idiotic voice, muffled by alcohol: "You win. These chips are yours."
He placed the playing cards face down on the table, then pushed all the chips in front of him towards the Penguin: "All the money you lost before, plus half of my initial investment, is now yours."
The Riddler turned to Mr. Freeze and said, "And you, Victor, if you—"
"Don't even think about it, Nigma. My money is yours now."
Mr. Freeze said, "I'd rather jump off the Tower of Weintraub than wear that stupid outfit!"
madness?
Jason gritted his teeth in anger.
Then he heard Mr. Freeze say, "Oswald, you've really dropped all your airs. Where's all that aristocratic air you used to uphold?"
"Come on, come on." The penguin, his face flushed from drinking, picked up the champagne on the table, downed it in one gulp, and then said:
"Batman has become like this, what am I supposed to do with maintaining aristocratic decorum? Do you think I never did comedic work when I was someone's lackey?"
He shook his belly twice.
"Frankly, what we're doing is no different from what Robin is doing! Don't I deserve a Robin uniform?"
"He's even secretly hoping for this punishment," the Riddler added. "Who can force a penguin?"
The penguin gave a noncommittal snort, then hiccuped: "Don't talk about me!"
He suddenly stood up and said, "Haven't you ever thought about trying on Robin's clothes?"
A dead silence.
The remaining three people exchanged glances and then let out dry laughs.
"Hahahaha, stop joking, who would want to wear something so ugly?"
"No one but you would like this—"
Then the Riddler and Harvey Dent stopped laughing.
Only Mr. Freeze remained, still groaning softly. Then he noticed the strange expressions on the other three people's faces.
"Good heavens," said Mr. Freeze.
"Are you kidding me? What could be worse than a penguin dressed as Robin?"
With a ding, Harvey Dent threw the five-sided die.
Mr. Freeze looked at him.
Harvey Dent said, "Yes."
Then everyone watched as he stood up, walked to the closet next to him, and took out Nightwing's low-cut disco V-neck outfit.
"Me, wearing the Nightwing uniform."
He looked troubled, as if he had been forced to make this decision; his multicolored face turned purple from holding it in.
Mr. Freeze knows he has OCD, and now that he's become the Quintesson, he has to forcibly add some random options in addition to the normal ones.
Clearly, he wasn't very lucky this time.
Victor was speechless. He turned to look at the riddle-maker grinning foolishly beside him.
"Robin's numbers won't increase anymore, right?"
Hehehehe!
Then he saw the Riddler, reeking of alcohol, walk up to the uniform of Robin Timberlake III, and even seem eager to try it on:
"nonsense!"
Jason Todd could no longer tolerate the sight of the Arkham lunatics vying to defile the sacred uniforms.
……
……
……
"You are breaking the law."
My name is Sam Lane.
I had heard of Batman's great reputation long ago.
"No, I am saving the future of humanity."
Clang!
The light went out in an instant.
"Night vision goggles, night vision goggles—have you found Batman yet?"
"Don't wear night vision goggles—" Luther shouted to stop him, but it was too late before he could finish his sentence.
The flashbangs and flares exploded violently, illuminating the entire room as if it were daytime.
"Found him, he's here—ah, my eyes—"
Chen Tao whispered, "OK. Friends, let's make this battle a little...human."
"ah--"
A soldier at close range abandoned his weapon, grabbed a tactical knife, and charged at him with a roar. Even though he was temporarily blinded, his instincts, honed by long-term special forces training, still allowed him to find the right target.
Chen Tao turned around, and the muscles from the Bain Bat appeared on his arm. He grabbed the other's arm, and the firewood was easily broken apart by such tremendous force. The fibers collapsed, the tendons tore, dark red juice flowed out, and then it snapped in two with a crack.
Then Chen Tao stomped on his thigh and broke it, but then frowned and saw another soldier who didn't care about the soldier he was fighting hand-to-hand, and was wielding a submachine gun and hurling a hail of bullets at him.
Chen Tao shook his head:
"Fine, I've changed my mind."
He threw the soldier in his hand aside and then spread his arms.
The next second, dozens of bullets were embedded in his head. Chen Tao suddenly turned his head, and a metallic color appeared on the top of his head, then disappeared.
He looked at the other person:
"It's good to let you rehearse what it's like to face Kryptonians."
More soldiers pointed their guns at him.
One of the leaders took a couple of breaths, then gritted his teeth and roared, "Fire! Fire!"
Gunfire continued unabated, and Chen Tao simply let them fire. In the flickering light, the soldiers felt that Batman had become a blurry, shadowy figure.
General Ryan, who had already run out of the room, stopped in his tracks. He took out his communicator to contact more soldiers, but when he looked up, he saw that Luther had not hesitated at all, decisively abandoning them all and running faster than a rabbit.
Why are you running?
General Ryan shouted:
"There are 27 of the most individually skilled soldiers in the entire United States assembled in this room. They should be able to hold off Batman for a while. I'll deploy them immediately—"
Only his voice echoed in the corridor.
Then he suddenly realized the silence.
He saw Luther, who had already run to the corner of the corridor, slowly retreating, his hands raised high.
General Ryan turned his head and saw the two soldiers who had been standing beside him protecting him lying on the ground, fast asleep.
"24 seconds," he heard Luther say.
"What did you say?"
"Batman took down everyone in just 24 seconds," Luthor told him. "Interesting...heh!"
He looked relaxed, even having the mood to tease Batman: "Where's your Robin who doesn't wear pants? Did you abandon him because he got fat like a penguin from eating strawberry cake?"
General Sam found it all rather pointless.
"I thought you were just a legend, an urban saga."
"People also think aliens are just a legend, Your Excellency."
Chen Tao replied, "Believe me, I've been preparing to deal with aliens for many years. But as the stories I've listed show..."
He said, "We need sheepdogs."
"It's that kryptonite!" General Ryan suddenly realized. "You're the one who stole the smaller piece of kryptonite! You tampered with the larger piece to pinpoint our location!"
"That's exactly right," Chen Tao replied.
Otherwise, with a security military base of this level being so large, finding the specific meeting location and time would require an immense amount of effort.
Chen Tao had no energy to waste.
The discovery that John Coburn could guide him was an accident, not part of his plan.
"We are not enemies, General. We are united in the face of aliens and a common threat." Then he heard Batman say, "Kryptonite weapons are not meant to fight sheepdogs that might help us, but jackals, General."
"Therefore, until you fully recognize who your enemies are and who your friends are, I'm afraid I'll have to take away the weapons you've made to prevent you from harming your comrades."
General Ryan realized what the other party wanted to do: "Kryptonite is the property of the national government."
"No, Kryptonite is a weapon used by all of humanity for self-defense."
Then he saw Batman turn and walk into the room, and he and Luthor hurriedly followed him in.
He watched as Batman walked toward the large kryptonite embedded in the armor.
"No, that's..."
General Lane could almost picture the scene of the enemy taking the kryptonite, which meant the U.S. military would lose control of the situation. But he quickly composed himself and began to reassure himself.
Fortunately, even without Kryptonite, he still has his complete alloy metal armor. If he can find some other Kryptonite, he can restart the Kryptonite reactor...
Then, the next second, he saw Chen Tao carry the entire armor, along with the kryptonite, on his shoulder, like an old farmer carrying crops in a field.
The armored vehicle was already over 2.5 meters tall, and when Chen Tao carried it on his shoulder, it looked like a hamster carrying a treadmill.
"You...you..." General Ryan stammered, but couldn't finish his sentence.
Chen Tao walked leisurely to him, and then, right in front of him, extended a finger and shot a small cluster of nanobots into the gap of the computer.
General Lane turned his head and saw that all the observation records and data stored on the computer on the big screen had been downloaded, without missing a single one.
"This is a state secret," General Ryan groaned, but he wasn't foolish enough to try to stop the other party.
But Chen Tao's expression gradually became serious.
He waved his hand to control the large screen, and then a scroll of video appeared on it.
A strange-looking robot lay on the lab table. General Ryan noticed the date on it.
That was two weeks ago.
He and Luther looked at each other in bewilderment.
Luther said, "Oh, it seems the US military has been hiding a lot from us."
Chen Tao stared intently at the robot on the screen. Its appearance resembled the metal skeleton of some kind of alien, and it lay quietly on the dissection table.
"Some kind of alien technology, completely incomprehensible. But it appears to be a self-aware robot, presumably with detection as its main function. But what exactly it detects? That remains unknown."
Someone is speaking in the video.
A professor-like figure in a white coat walked into the frame and said, "Let's begin disassembly now."
Chen Tao noticed that the robot behind him had its eyes light up at that moment.
"Tsk." Luther noticed it too, and he smacked his lips.
Then came the agonizing screams, the gushing blood, and then silence. The three of them watched the bloodshed in the video in quiet silence.
"Fire! Fire! Ah!"
"It's nothing serious," General Ryan said. "We destroyed the robot with a bomb in the end."
"Boom—"
An explosion can be heard in the video.
Chen Tao didn't speak; he rewound the video to the second before the robot was destroyed.
"Did you hear that?"
"What?"
"General Ryan asked."
Chen Tao turned up the volume and then turned off the noise.
"■■■■■■■!"
Chen Tao further reduced the noise.
"Long live the ■■■■■!"
After repeating this action several times, the sound became clearer and clearer. General Ryan's expression changed little by little.
All three people present heard this chilling sound—
That indistinct roar, a mixture of mechanical elements:
"Long live Brainiac!"
"Long live!"
"Long live!"
And I recommend Harley Quinn's novels!
Hogwarts: Harley Quinn's Witch Path
Recommendation: A Lord of Mysteries and Harry Potter fanfic, featuring Harry Potter from Witch Path, without a male protagonist.
