Chapter 56: Thor, who wanted to steal the hammer!
Chapter 56: Thor, who wanted to steal the hammer!
"You played really well today!"
Chris walked over and casually patted Chen Xun's arm with his free hand:
"The way you dodged and weaved around was like dancing, it was so cool."
"You made quite a commotion when you grabbed the hammer!"
Chen Xun responded with a smile.
After a few days of filming, he and Chris had gotten to know each other quite well, and he realized that Chris was down-to-earth and easy to get along with.
"Want to grab a drink? I know a quiet spot nearby where the paparazzi won't find you."
Chris shook his head: "We need this after work, otherwise my muscles feel like they've rusted!"
Chen Xun wasn't particularly fond of drinking, but he thought it would be nice to chat with Chris, so he nodded.
"Okay."
The two walked out side by side.
As they approached the parking lot, Chris suddenly handed the cat hammer to Chen Xun:
"Here, take a look and play with it? A lot of people would love to touch it but don't even have the chance."
Chen Xun paused for a moment, then took the hammer.
It was a bit heavier than he expected, but the weight was evenly distributed, it felt solid, and the handle was very comfortable to hold.
He subconsciously imitated the way he did in the movie by waving his hand with one hand, and it felt quite natural; he maintained his balance very well.
"How is it? Feels good, right?"
Chris watched his movements with a hint of smugness, as if he had truly made the hammer himself.
"Don't underestimate it just because it's a prop. It's very well made, and it looks cool when you swing it."
Chen Xun handed the hammer back to him and said honestly, "It is indeed more convenient than I imagined."
Chris took the hammer and casually hung it on the special buckle around his waist, his movements as practiced as if it were an everyday item.
"Let me tell you, sometimes after filming, I want to clip it to my waist and go to the supermarket to buy milk. Just imagining that scene would be really cool."
He grinned, revealing a set of white teeth.
Instead of driving Chen Xun's conspicuous 911, the two rode in a rather ordinary-looking black SUV driven by Chris.
The car wound its way through the streets until it reached the back door of a rather unremarkable bar.
Chris was clearly a regular customer; he greeted the security guard at the door and then led Chen Xun inside from the back.
The bar was dimly lit, not crowded, and playing soft jazz music.
Chris found a corner booth and skillfully ordered two beers and some snacks.
"Isn't this a nice place? It's quiet!"
Chris took a big gulp of beer and sighed contentedly.
"Unlike those places where celebrities gather, where even having a drink feels like walking the red carpet."
Chen Xun took a sip, and the cold beer slid down his throat, which did relieve a lot of his fatigue.
"It really does feel like a normal place to drink."
After a few beers, the conversation flowed smoothly.
Chris is a very talkative person.
From all corners of the world, from fun surfing on Australian beaches to the experience of being rejected during auditions when first arriving in Hollywood, to complaining about the bizarre demands of some directors.
His language is humorous, with a touch of the ruggedness and self-deprecation typical of Australians.
"You know what? When I first auditioned for Thor, they thought I was too skinny!"
Chris gestured that he was famous:
"They said I don't look like a god wielding a hammer, but more like a surfboard washed ashore!"
"There was no other way but to train like crazy. I ate so many egg whites that I felt like throwing up whenever I saw an egg."
Chen Xun found it amusing as well.
Who would have thought that the muscular Thor we know today has such a dark past?
"And you, Chen? You really did study at USC before? And then you went and played a corpse?"
Chris asked curiously.
"Hmm, I didn't finish reading! I'm out of money, but I still need to eat."
Chen Xun spoke of it casually.
"Wow, your rise to power is like a rocket!"
Chris sighed.
The two chatted and drank, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
Chen Xun discovered that Chris was indeed a very interesting person in private, not so complicated, which was quite different from the domineering Thor on the screen.
As Chris drank, he clearly got a little tipsy.
His cheeks flushed, and his voice became louder.
He then took the cat hammer off his waist, placed it on the table, and stroked the hammer head as if petting a pet.
"Bro, I'm telling you the truth!"
He lowered his voice, leaned closer to Chen Xun, his breath reeking of alcohol, his eyes slightly unfocused yet earnest:
"Sometimes I really want to sneak this thing home!"
Chen Xun nearly choked on his beer: "What? Stealing props?"
"Shh! Keep your voice down!"
Chris made a shushing gesture and glanced around furtively:
"Don't you think this is cool? Just imagine having something like this at home; you can show it off to your friends when they come over!"
"Hey, look what this is! Thor's hammer! How cool is that!"
He became more and more excited as he spoke:
"I've even decided on the location: above the fireplace in the living room! Or as a doorstop? No, that's too wasteful! It could also be used as a tissue holder on the toilet!"
He began to envision the various practical functions of the Meow Meow Hammer for home use.
Chen Xun looked at his serious drunken state and didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Is this guy really drunk, or is he just a goofball at heart?
"Marvel will hunt you down!"
Chen Xun reminded him, "This hammer isn't cheap!"
"I know, I know..."
Chris waved his hand, then slumped onto the table, somewhat dejected, his fingers still picking at the patterns on the hammer.
"Just thinking about it... Sigh, being a god is tiring too. You can't even take your own hammer home whenever you want."
He then went on and on about some interesting anecdotes from the filming.
He complained that the Asgardian costumes were sometimes too tight, jokingly complained that Loki always stole his spotlight, and finally his voice got softer and softer until he almost fell asleep.
Chen Xun looked at the burly Australian man lying on the table, hugging a cat-shaped hammer and muttering to himself, then glanced at the empty beer mug on the table and smiled helplessly.
He called the waiter to settle the bill, then half-supported, half-carried the god who wanted to steal his hammer to his feet and led him outside.
"My hammer...don't forget my hammer..."
Chris didn't forget to remind him.
Chen Xun had no choice but to support him with one hand and carry the heavy Meow Meow Hammer with the other, feeling like a mortal cleaning up a mess for a god.
They put Chris in the back seat of the SUV, fastened his seatbelt, and carefully placed the Meow Hammer next to him.
Chen Xun looked at Thor, who was sleeping in a completely unseemly manner, and shook his head.
The wine I drank today!
He witnessed a side of the Asgardian prince that was previously unknown to others.
He took out his phone and sent a message to Chris's assistant, informing him of his location and the situation.
Only after watching his assistant drag Chris away did he call a car to go back.
Filming for Thor is proceeding smoothly.
Chen Xun's role as Fan Daer wasn't the most significant, but it was fragmented. He would often film for a day or two, then take a few days off to wait for the other main characters' scenes to be filmed.
In the past, Chen Xun might have been anxious, worried about not having any work and not earning any money.
But now he desperately wants more of these gaps in his schedule.
Because the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a treasure trove for him!
When he's not filming, he doesn't stay in the dressing room or run back to Beverly Hills.
He moved a small stool and found a corner where he could see the whole set without getting in the way.
His eyes scanned each actor who was performing.
Today we're filming a group scene in Odin's Palace.
Odin, the king of the gods, sat on his throne, with Thor, Loki, and a host of Asgardian civil and military officials standing below him.
