Chapter 83, change to batch 1!
Chapter 83, change to batch 1!
"Change to a different batch."
Lin Yu casually tossed the stack of resumes that Wang Jinghua had brought onto his desk.
Wang Jinghua's hands were practically red from clenching under the table. You're choosing concubines here now, and you're even 'changing them'!
She had personally spent the entire afternoon sifting through these resumes, and this man didn't even bother to look at them, just glanced at the photo and name before tossing them back. Even if he were really selecting a concubine, shouldn't he at least look at the resume?
"Okay, boss." Wang Jinghua took a deep breath, neatly put the resume back into her bag, and forced a professional smile. "Do you have any specific requirements? I'll go back and look again, and 'get a new batch' for you."
"How about we check out the Beijing Dance Academy?" Lin Yu pondered for a moment, then offered another suggestion.
Who's hiring an assistant at a dance academy? What, do you have a grudge against the Beijing Dance Academy?
Oh, there really is one. Never mind then.
"Understood, boss." Although Wang Jinghua had mentally cursed Lin Yu from head to toe, she maintained a standard smile on her face. "Any other requests? I'll go back and find some more."
"Just look for it and bring it to me later," Lin Yu added. "I'm quick at looking."
"Boss, do you have a target in mind?" Wang Jinghua narrowed her eyes and stared at Lin Yu scrutinizingly, feeling that his request was a little too obvious.
"It's all about first impressions," Lin Yu explained seriously. "Nothing else matters."
"Then why does it have to be the Beijing Dance Academy?" Wang Jinghua clearly didn't believe it.
Lin Yu remained expressionless and confidently stated, "I consulted a master fortune teller."
Upon hearing this, Wang Jinghua paused for a second, took a deep breath, and thought, "What else can I say? It's come to this point. Even if you say someone is giving you a dream, I'd have to believe it."
"I don't know..." Wang Jinghua's smile stiffened even more. "Did the master divine anything else?"
"No, that's all." Lin Yu thought for a moment and shook his head.
The main problem was that he only remembered Li Yitong as a stage name; he had no recollection of her real name. If he told Wang Jinghua that name, she probably wouldn't be able to find it even after a year.
"Looks like this master's skill level is just so-so," Wang Jinghua said sarcastically.
"That's right." Lin Yu nodded in deep agreement.
"Then I'll come again tomorrow." Wang Jinghua got up to say goodbye, thinking that she still needed to buy some nitroglycerin pills on her way back, as she would be working under Lin Yu for a long time to come.
"Keep it up, I believe in you!" Lin Yu didn't get up, just waved to her and started writing the script again.
Filming for "My Love from the Star" has wrapped up, and new projects are in the works. I'm taking advantage of this trip to scout out filming locations for the new movie.
After filming "My Love from the Star", Lin Yu felt that his cinematic aesthetics had improved significantly and planned to make a movie to test his true level.
Lin Yu figured that Teacher Tian would be interested in this script, and if he could get Director Tian to oversee it again, he would be able to truly graduate.
Lin Yu created a new Word document and put a title on it:
Manchester by the Sea
Although this movie was released in 16, the script actually started being written in 11 and wasn't finalized until 14. However, by the time they finalized the script, Lin Yu's movies were probably all finished filming, and he had probably already won most of the awards.
When Lin Yu was writing the script for "My Love from the Star" in Northeast China, he had the idea of making this movie. The overall atmosphere of "Beach" fits the environment of Northeast China very well.
During this period, the three northeastern provinces had just recovered from the mass layoffs of the late 1990s, and the overall social vitality was still at a low point, with a depressing atmosphere permeating all levels of society.
"The Beach" tells a story of trauma and so-called "redemption." Not all wounds can be healed, nor can all mistakes be forgiven.
Just like in Northeast China at that time, trauma is always trauma; it's there, never healed, it's just in the past.
Yes, it's just in the past.
The release of this film also aligns perfectly with the tastes of the three major European film festivals in recent years: loneliness, trauma, and forgiveness. Its artistic style also conforms to the minimalist, restrained, and repressive themes that have been popular in recent years.
As for the direction of the adaptation, Lin Yu prefers to reflect the contrast between the recovery of the whole society and the individuals who cannot get out of it, rather than simply focusing on the suffering of society.
On one side is the outside world gradually recovering, and on the other side is the protagonist who is always trapped in the past. This contrast makes the oppression and pain even more prominent.
If Lin Yu were to follow the example of some directors and make rural films about hardship to please foreign film festivals in order to win awards, it wouldn't just be a matter of getting a beating; his legs could be broken.
Lin Yu gets so busy that he loses track of time. He wants to use this filming opportunity to finish the first draft so that filming can start at the end of the year, which would be in time for the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Otherwise, he'll have to wait until Venice in August.
As for the Golden Bear... not only is the timing inconvenient, but this year's jury chairman is Wong Kar-wai. Let's just say, those who know, know.
By the time Lin Yu snapped out of his script, it was already dusk. He stood up, stretched his stiff body, shut down his laptop, and prepared to go home.
Most of the staff in the studio had already left work. Apart from a few positions that required employees to be in the office, most employees worked flexibly – they would only gather when filming, and otherwise they would go wherever it was cool to be.
When Lin Yu came downstairs, he saw that the light in the reception room was still on and thought that someone had forgotten to turn it off.
Pushing open the door, I saw Nazha asleep on the sofa, covered with a thin blanket, a faint smile on her lips.
Lin Yu shook his head and gently picked her up. There was a bedroom behind his office, used for temporary rest, where he could sleep more comfortably.
Before she even left the meeting room, Nazha opened her eyes and looked at him sleepily: "Brother Xiaoyu, are you done with your work?"
"Hmm, how long have you been here?" Lin Yu asked, seeing she was awake, and prepared to put her down. "Why didn't you just come in and find me?"
Naza twisted her body in dissatisfaction, wrapped her arms around Lin Yu's neck, and refused to get down.
"I just arrived and sent you a message, but you didn't reply. I knew you were busy, so I thought I'd wait for you outside... but I fell asleep."
Lin Yu looked at the pressure mark on her face from sleeping and the glistening drool at the corner of her mouth, and couldn't help but laugh.
"Next time, just go straight in. What could be more important than you?"
"Mmm." Nazha chuckled again upon hearing this, hugging herself even tighter.
"Get down quickly, I'm tired."
"No way, you're not that weak."
"Get down here and wipe your drool; you've got it all over my clothes!"
"Then I'm not coming down!"
