Chapter 37 Go out and celebrate!
Chapter 37 Go out and celebrate!
Zhou Ye was so excited that he danced with joy.
Her hair was flung all over her face from jumping, and she kicked off one of her fluffy slippers.
She was hopping and jumping on the small patch of open space in front of the sofa, like a small firework with its fuse lit.
Afraid that she might jump too hard and bump into the coffee table, Wang Zian also stood up from the sofa, moved two steps to the side, and smiled at her with his hands still in his pockets.
Then~~
Perhaps Zhou Ye was too excited.
She jumped up and down twice, then turned around and saw Wang Zian standing in front of her, smiling at her.
The string in her mind that was responsible for controlling the "appropriate distance" snapped at this moment because of happiness.
She took a step forward, opened her arms, and rushed over to hug him.
"I passed! That was awesome!" Her voice exploded on his shoulder, crisp and bright, with a slight crack.
It was as if she had released all the tension, fear, and disbelief that she had been holding in through this hug.
But Prince An's whole body stiffened.
His hands were outstretched at his sides, palms facing outwards, fingers slightly spread, like a telephone pole that had been suddenly embraced.
That face, which had remained calm from the preliminary exam to the final exam, from in front of the examiners to in Zhang Yiming's office, was now completely red.
Unconsciously, the pleasant scent emanating from Zhou Ye wafted into his nostrils.
But now that she's hugging him like this, he can feel her softness even through her clothes.
It wasn't the kind of softness that lacks backbone; it was a girl's warmth, a softness I'd never felt in a hug before.
He remained motionless.
It wasn't that he didn't want to move; it was that his brain had stopped all processing at that moment.
Zhou Ye's excitement cooled down within a fraction of a second after her impulsiveness; she sensed Wang Zi'an's unusual behavior.
Then she suddenly let go.
She took two steps back, too quickly, and her heel hit the edge of the coffee table, causing it to wobble and the star fruit in the plate to sway.
Her hair was all stuck to her face, so she quickly reached out and brushed it away.
Her face turned red from her neck to her ears, from her ears to her forehead, to her hairline, and so red that every single capillary was clearly visible.
She didn't look up.
She stared at her feet, one in a fluffy slipper, the other bare, her toes slightly curled; then she spoke so softly it was almost as quiet as a mosquito's buzz.
"I'm sorry, I got too excited."
Prince An put his hands back into his pockets.
His heart was still pounding in his chest, but he forced his voice to remain steady. "It's okay; everyone's like that when they're excited."
It was just a perfectly normal word of comfort, but Zhou Ye actually took it seriously.
She slowly raised her head, revealing her flushed face. The shyness in her almond-shaped eyes was still there, but now there was a hint of seriousness beneath.
"Really? You're like that too?"
Prince An could only nod.
Zhou Ye let out a long breath, his shoulders finally relaxed a little, and he adjusted his mindset.
"I know you're trying to comfort me, but you're still feeling embarrassed!"
Wang Zian couldn't help but laugh.
"You're really funny!"
He stretched his shoulders. "Alright, I've seen the results, what's next?"
Zhou Ye's eyes darted around, then a smile returned to his face. "Let's go for a walk!"
"What are you playing? Aren't you going to try a third time?"
Zhou Ye shook his head.
"The art exam preparation classes are closed this morning; we'll meet again this afternoon!"
"I want to go to the museum!"
"You made a reservation?" Wang Zian asked with a smile. "Do I need to make a reservation to go there?"
Zhou Ye suddenly tilted his head, his lips curving into a sly smile, his eyes gleaming with an air of "I'm very clever."
"I was fully prepared after dance practice that day!" Zhou Ye said proudly. "How could I possibly do something unprepared?"
"At the time, I was thinking that I'd go take a trip after the interview results came out!"
"If you pass, celebrate; if you fail, console yourself!"
"Let's go celebrate!"
Prince An naturally had no objections.
He's been incredibly busy at ByteDance these past few days, working overtime non-stop and hasn't been anywhere.
Before coming to Yenching, I said I wanted to visit some places, but I ended up going to Yenching University instead.
···
The two of them left without hesitation.
This time, the two did not drive. There is a subway station downstairs from Zhou Ye's house, which goes directly to the National Museum of China.
The subway wasn't crowded, and there was an empty seat near the door. Zhou Ye sat down, and Wang Zi'an stood next to her, holding onto the handrail.
She tilted her head back and told him what she was thinking with her eyes closed when she checked her grades.
"I was thinking that if I failed the exam, I would eat a big bowl of noodles with soybean paste to comfort myself. But now that I've passed, I'm going to eat two bowls."
After listening, Wang Zian looked down at her and said, "Your logic points to eating from both sides."
The two spent two hours at the National Museum of China, starting with the Ancient History Exhibition Hall and walking through the Xia, Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. They saw numerous historical artifacts that witnessed the progress of Chinese civilization.
The two also found cultural relics from their respective provinces that were on loan to the National Museum of China, such as a model of an Eastern Han Dynasty pottery boat and the Simuwu Ding.
Throughout their visit, Zhou Ye kept taking pictures.
It also records many of Prince An's figures.
Wang Zian took a picture when she was standing in front of a Shang Dynasty bronze ding vessel, tilting her head to look at the inscription.
She even took a picture while looking down at a storyteller figurine in front of the Han Dynasty pottery figurine display case.
She also had Prince An take many photos of her.
She stood in front of the Houmuwu Ding, looking up at its massive bronze outline. She turned to the side next to a model of an Eastern Han Dynasty pottery boat and made a small checkmark with her fingers. She stood in front of a wall of ancient musical instrument display cases, turning back to smile at the camera.
Wang Zian has good photography skills. When taking photos, he squats down to adjust the angle instead of just randomly pressing the shutter button with his phone like most boys do.
Every photo he took of Zhou Ye was quite beautiful, not the kind of beautiful that's heavily edited, but the kind that's clean in composition, natural in lighting, and makes people feel very comfortable.
Zhou Ye took the phone and flipped through a few pictures. He couldn't help but look up at him and said, "You're quite good at taking pictures."
Wang Zian took the phone and said, "I'm forced to! Every time my mom goes on a trip, she makes me take hundreds of pictures of her, and if they're not good enough, she makes me retake them."
"Really? That's quite interesting!"
After two hours, Zhou Ye's phone was filled with photos.
One of the photos was a picture of them together in front of a huge enamelware. Zhou Ye didn't find the right angle when she held up her phone, so the photo was crooked, but she couldn't bear to delete it.
Both people in the photo are slightly crooked, but they are smiling naturally.
These photos played a significant role later on, though neither Wang Zi'an nor Zhou Ye knew it at the time.

After they finished shopping, the two had a meal together.
During the meal, Wang Zian's phone vibrated several times.
He picked it up and saw that it was a message from Sister Meng.
I sent several messages, jumping forward one after another.
"Sorry, junior brother, I overslept!"
"The art exam results came out today, did you see your name? I told you you'd get in. Sister Meng was right, wasn't she? Sister Meng wouldn't lie to you!"
It was followed by a thumbs-up emoji wearing sunglasses.
"Prepare well for the third round of testing. Let me tell you, it's much easier than the second round. It just tests your overall performance. You were so good in the second round, you'll definitely pass the third round. I guarantee you'll pass."
"It doesn't matter if you come to Beijing Film Academy or not, we can still see you in Yenching University later; and after you pass the test, you can go back and brag to your classmates!"
"Back when I first came here, so many people in my class envied me!"
This series of messages from Sister Meng reveals a strong personal style.
Humorous and interesting.
