Chapter 1288 - 1283: Are You Ready to Forgive Him?

Chapter 1288 - 1283: Are You Ready to Forgive Him?

After lunch, Evander Lancaster sat in Nathan Moore’s office for a while. He lit a cigarette for himself, leaned back in the sofa, smoking and waiting for Sophia Hamilton to return.Nathan Moore was also leaning in the sofa, his body resting against the armrest beside him, scrolling on his phone, looking at something unknown.

Seeing Nathan’s fingers constantly swiping on the touchscreen, Evander glanced over and raised an eyebrow, "Nathan, are you playing mobile games too?"

"No, I’m reading news." Nathan’s expression was natural, only he knew he was being a spy at the moment, chatting with Titus Zane on WeChat, saying Evander was still at the company.

In the restaurant, Titus shared the news he had just received with Sophia, "Nathan said Evander is still at the company, how about we two go shopping?"

Sophia took a sip of warm water, hesitantly opened her mouth, "Titus, actually Evander isn’t that bad, he just yelled at me once, usually it’s me bullying him."

Titus...

Surprised, she lifted her head to look at Sophia, still holding her phone, still chatting with Nathan on WeChat.

"Are you planning to forgive him?"

Sophia cupped the glass with her lips pursed and nodded slightly, "I have missed him quite a bit these days apart, so..."

"So you’ve softened your heart?" Titus interrupted Sophia before she could finish, her raised eyebrows exuding disbelief, making Sophia feel a bit guilty, almost wanting to compromise immediately.

Titus withdrew her gaze and put away her phone.

"Alright, since you’re preparing to forgive Evander, why should I be the bad guy? Let’s go back, Evander is still waiting for you."

"Titus, you’re truly both beautiful and understanding." Sophia praised with a smile, Titus picked up her handbag beside her, laughing and saying, "Don’t flatter me, it doesn’t work."

When the two women returned to the company, Evander had already left. Nathan said that he received a call and left hastily, Sophia thought something had happened at Evander’s home, and quickly called him.

Evander was driving back to his hospital, receiving a call, Uncle Gabriel Lancaster was in a car accident, undergoing surgery in his private hospital, and it’s unknown whether his life is in danger.

After simply explaining a few words to Sophia, Evander ended the call.

In the hospital corridor, Catherine Taylor was pacing back and forth, as if sitting on pins and needles, not saying anything, but her anxious expression already exposed the unease in her heart.

Willow Lancaster sat quietly on the bench, her lowered gaze concealed the emotion in her eyes.

With the uncle’s accident, Violet Zimmerman also rushed over as the family head’s lady, sitting next to Willow on the bench, the man willing to follow forever sat beside her.

Catherine stood at the door of the surgery room looking inside, seeing nothing but the tightly closed door.

An anxious sigh turned back, came in front of Violet, "Sister-in-law, Gabriel won’t be in any danger, right?"

Violet couldn’t overlook Catherine’s excessive tension, looking at her helplessly, "What could happen? He was still conscious when pushed into the surgery room!"

"Oh, oh, right, my memory just slipped, I forgot." Catherine pressed her hands against her chest, nodded with a smile, intending to walk back to the surgery room door, but turned back after a step.

"Would Gabriel be disabled? I saw a lot of blood on his feet."

His woman being harassed repeatedly, Joseph Lancaster felt uncomfortable.

Looking at Catherine expressionlessly, "You’re about to divorce, his being disabled has nothing to do with you!"

Catherine...

Looking at Joseph’s lips move without saying anything, she lowered her head, walked to the empty spot beside her daughter, sitting down with a much more downcast expression.

Willow raised her arm, covered her mother’s arm, gently squeezed, and comforted, "Mom, don’t worry, it’ll be okay."

"Mm-mm, I’m not worried." Catherine raised her head, sniffed, breathed out shakily, forced a smile forward, "There’s nothing to worry about, we’re soon to become strangers."

Seeing her mother forcing a smile, Willow pursed her lips tightly.

The four sat in the corridor waiting for the surgery, Evander came over hastily, dressed in sterile clothes, mask and cap, nodded to them, Catherine stood up about to speak, but he already walked to the surgery room door.

A medical staff opened the door, Evander went in and it was closed again.

Catherine looked at the tightly shut door panel, wanting to go over, but hesitated then sat back down.

The wait was long, of course, maybe only for Catherine.

Gabriel was not severely injured, was conscious when pushed into the surgery room, at the junction, two cars collided without causing casualties.

About ten minutes later, the door to the operating room opened, and Evander Lancaster came out. He clearly sighed with relief as he removed his mask.

"Evander, is your third uncle’s injury severe? Will there be any lasting aftereffects?" Violet Zimmerman stood up, followed by Joseph Lancaster.

Catherine Taylor hesitated to stand, not speaking immediately, but her face showed just how nervous she felt inside.

"Third Uncle is fine; it’s just a comminuted fracture in his foot. He will need to rest in bed for a while to fully recover."

"That’s good, that’s good." Catherine Taylor patted her chest, breathed a long sigh of relief, and leaned back in her chair.

Evander stood in front of them, his hands in the pockets of his lab coat. The tall man stood out even in his white coat.

He smiled at Catherine and said, "Aunt, looks like you’ll have work to do soon."

Catherine understood Evander’s meaning, shifted slightly with feigned displeasure, and said, "What does his foot injury have to do with me? He was talking about divorcing me the other day."

Evander said nothing, turning to his mother and saying, "Mom, I’ll go back to the office first. Please stay here with Aunt."

"Yes, go ahead." Violet nodded. Evander smiled and walked down the corridor. Watching her son leave, Joseph grumbled unhappily, "This boy really needs discipline!" He hadn’t even greeted him.

Gabriel Lancaster settled into a room at the hospital, below Willow Lancaster’s ward. Catherine wanted to visit but worried he would be upset seeing her, so even though she was concerned, she dared not go.

In Gabriel’s room, the man who had just undergone surgery was in a foul mood. Nothing seemed right—the way the nurse hung the IV was wrong, lying in bed was uncomfortable... everything was irritating, and he even angrily scolded the medical staff out.

Faced with such a difficult patient, the medical staff felt wronged. Routine medication and treatment were met with numerous complaints, but they had to hold their displeasure, as this patient was related to the hospital director.

Evander entered Gabriel’s room while he was still in a mood. Gabriel glanced at him then turned his face inward.

"Third Uncle, who’s making you angry?" Evander asked with a smile, closing the door and walking over to Gabriel’s bed with his hands in his pockets.

"I’m not angry; I just hurt my foot and can’t move, so I’m in a bad mood!" Gabriel refused to admit, facing the window with a poor expression, his breathing somewhat heavy.

"How about I call Aunt to take care of you?" Evander asked with a smile, but Gabriel interrupted him displeased.

"No need! If she cared, she wouldn’t need you to call her over!" Gabriel unwittingly exposed his feelings, and upon hearing Evander’s obvious laughter, he turned back, glaring with displeasure.

"I misspoke earlier; we’re about to divorce and you think I’d want her to take care of me?"

"Yeah, true." Evander maintained a serious face, nodding, "I’ll get someone to assist you soon..."

"No need!" Evander’s words were cut off by Gabriel’s displeasure. Meeting Evander’s playful gaze, Gabriel realized his reaction was too obvious.

Still, he kept a straight face, saying, "I’ll call the family soon for a maid."

"Alright, I’ll do it now." Evander nodded, turned, and left.

Watching Evander leave, Gabriel dismissed him with a grunt, "How could the Lancaster Family have such a foolish son!"

Evander took the elevator up one floor, entered Willow’s room. "Aunt, you should go downstairs, third uncle is throwing a fit since he hasn’t seen you."

Catherine paused in her apple peeling, staring at Evander blankly, before returning to her task and replying with a smile, "No way, Evander, stop fooling me."

"Aunt, I’m not kidding. Please, go quickly, otherwise third uncle might tear the hospital down." Evander couldn’t understand why they cared for each other but acted shyly, unwilling to make the first move; divorce seemed inevitable this way.

"Is it really that serious?" Catherine paused again in her apple peeling, and Evander nodded, "Yes, third uncle is annoyed because he hasn’t seen you, he cursed the whole floor’s nursing staff. If you don’t go comfort him, no one will dare come to work tomorrow."

"Okay, I’ll go now." Catherine put down the knife and apple, stood up hurriedly, stopped after a step, turned back to her daughter, "Willow, I’m going to see your father, if you’re bored, have your second brother keep you company."

Willow nodded. Since her attempted suicide, she hadn’t been as brash and passionate as before.

"Evander, stay with Willow, I’ll be right back."

Catherine instructed again, rushed out of the room.

Evander glanced back and sat in the chair by the bed.

"Little girl, don’t think it’s over now, third uncle won’t divorce your mom."

"How do you know?" Willow mumbled, and Evander gave her a disdainful look.

"Are you dumb? Third uncle is upset because your mom didn’t go take care of him. Do you think he’ll still divorce her!"
