Chapter 1314: Enemy Situation
Chapter 1314: Enemy Situation
Noon.In the jungle.
The scorching sun hung high in the sky, baking the forest, causing waves of heat that made the dense woods unbearably hot.
Under a big tree, Ye Fan, Zhang Lu, and Qin Yi sat together, discussing a plan.
The rest of the Longyin Team was on guard at the perimeter, while Yang Shu and the others were scouting on the outermost area.
"We have entered the outskirts of the enemy territory. From here on, we need to be extremely careful," Ye Fan said. "Without exposing ourselves, we must understand the enemy’s movements as much as possible. Once we have a clear grasp of the situation, we will take the initiative to strike, engaging in close combat without alarming others, and gradually eliminate the enemy. This is our primary objective."
"The enemy has many numbers. To face many with few, we indeed need to plan thoroughly and cannot act rashly," Zhang Lu said. "According to current intelligence, the enemy numbers around a hundred. We don’t know their exact locations or hiding spots, so we must slowly gather information and then devise an attack plan."
"Yang Shu and the others are swift and perceptive, and they will definitely be able to gauge the surrounding situation," Qin Yi said earnestly. "I trust them to scout valuable intelligence. I’ll follow your instructions and ensure I don’t hold us back."
What he could assure now is to do his utmost not to become a burden. Because everyone in the Longyin Team, himself included, was truly no match for Yang Shu and the others—not in combat strength nor other capabilities. Therefore, not becoming a liability while playing to his strengths was most important.
"From here, we will split up. Once the time is right, you are to collect the bodies of Chi Qinyuan and the others. When you find them, bring them back. Leave the rest to us," Ye Fan instructed Qin Yi, "Remember, locating the bodies is your sole purpose, nothing else should concern you."
"But..." Qin Yi wanted to say more, but Ye Fan interrupted him forcefully, saying, "There’s no ’but.’ Remember your mission. Completing it is what’s most important. Don’t get involved in anything else."
"Yes!" Qin Yi replied firmly. He wished to participate in more actions with Ye Fan, but with Ye Fan’s words, he could only follow orders. When it came to retrieving the bodies, he dared not disobey nor argue.
Originally, Qin Yi and the others were supposed to follow Ye Fan until the end.
Once Ye Fan had thoroughly understood the situation, he decided not to bring Quinn Yi and the others. Instead, he tasked Qin Yi with retrieving the bodies of Chi Qinyuan and the others—this was the main goal. The effect achieved by Qin Yi and the others was evident, and they could handle the rest.
"We must keep in contact at all times. You must remain hidden outside without exposing yourselves. Action is only advisable when the time is ripe," Ye Fan warned. "Remember, you have your mission; combat is not your role."
"Understood, I will complete the task without burdening you," Qin Yi promised resolutely, his gaze firm.
Soon, Yang Shu returned, heavily sweating.
She reported, "Enemy spotted, numbering around ten. Most likely a reconnaissance team."
"Direction?" Ye Fan asked.
"At three o’clock, three kilometers away," Yang Shu replied.
"Exact number?" Zhang Lu inquired.
"Seems like eleven or twelve, not entirely sure. The environment was quite complex, so I didn’t take any risks. I saw signals of reflected light further away, indicating someone might be observing the reconnaissance team’s situation. To avoid alarming them, I didn’t get closer," Yang Shu said seriously.
"Interesting. Seems the enemy isn’t foolish. They anticipated our arrival and sent a reconnaissance team to probe. If we expose ourselves, more enemies might rush out to deal with us. Traps likely await near the bodies, and we must be cautious against other attack methods," Ye Fan stated calmly.
Soon, Shen Tingting, Zhang Kui, Qian Weiguo, and Gao Qiang returned from scouting.
The four did not discover any enemy traces, indicating that only the direction Yang Shu scouted had enemies. Thus, nearby enemies primarily focused on Yang Shu’s scouted direction.
"What do we do next?" Zhang Lu asked, looking at Ye Fan with a smile. "Shall we eliminate this reconnaissance team first?"
"Doing so would only expose us and alarm them," Yang Shu showed some doubt.
"This guy acts decisively. When toughness is needed, he arrives with an overbearing presence, not bothering with trivialities," Zhang Lu said with a bright smile. "In his eyes, these enemies before us are not significant enough, nor would he hide."
Yang Shu, Shen Tingting, and the others looked at Ye Fan, waiting for his instructions.
Ye Fan glanced around, giving Zhang Lu a focused look. Then, calmly, he said, "What we need to do now is to alert them, make the enemy aware of our presence. We’re here—they should understand our purpose. We don’t care about the whereabouts of Chi Qinyuan’s bodies, but aim to take down Black Shark’s head. To achieve this ultimate goal, we’ll eliminate Black Shark’s subordinates to the greatest extent."
"First, we’ll strike the reconnaissance team to deter the enemy. Those observing the team from afar will undoubtedly notice us—that’s our objective. Let them witness our quick and fierce strike on this team," Zhang Lu agreed earnestly.
"Since we’ve decided, let’s take down the reconnaissance team," Yang Shu said viciously.
"Let’s move," Shen Tingting and the others eagerly joined.
"We’re only seven. Let’s not expose all of our combat strength right away. I, Zhang Lu, and Yang Shu will eliminate the reconnaissance team. The rest of you stay hidden," Ye Fan already made his plan.
Shen Tingting, Qian Weiguo, Zhang Kui, and Gao Qiang had no objections—they had to follow Ye Fan’s orders unconditionally.
"Action." Ye Fan stood and moved with Zhang Lu and Yang Shu.
Toward the direction of the reconnaissance team, they went stealthily.
Shen Tingting and the other four moved in another direction to stay hidden.
Ye Fan had already split from Qin Yi and the others. Moving forward, all combat would be carried out by Ye Fan’s group. When the time was right, Qin Yi and the others would only need to retrieve Chi Qinyuan’s bodies; the rest was beyond their involvement.
