Chapter 1316: The Peng Bird Arrives

Chapter 1316: The Peng Bird Arrives

Mahavi glared at Ade, who had lost both ears, his expression changing rapidly.Mahavi was Black Shark’s second-in-command, the one observing the reconnaissance team from afar.

Ade was the leader of the reconnaissance team whose ears were shot off by Ye Fan’s two bullets.

Ade’s reconnaissance team was an elite squad, capable of putting up a fight even against formidable foes.

However, in Ye Fan’s hands, they were utterly defenseless, suffering disastrous losses, which made Mahavi very agitated.

Mahavi’s mind replayed the scenes of the recent battle; he saw everything clearly through his binoculars.

It’s precisely because of this that he’s on edge; he understands they’ve encountered true experts this time; otherwise, the reconnaissance team wouldn’t have been so miserably defeated.

Though the three enemies launched their attack out of nowhere, catching the reconnaissance team off guard.

But the way the three enemies annihilated the reconnaissance team is truly frightening and alarming.

Mahavi stared at Ade angrily, making Ade a bit scared.

"Why aren’t you dead?" Mahavi asked, with the notion of killing Ade.

"They spared me to deliver a message to Master Black Shark," Ade replied cautiously.

"Since when did you become a messenger pigeon?" Mahavi retorted disapprovingly, "You’re a warrior. Eleven comrades perished in the forest, and you still have the cheek to live? You feel no shame acting as a pigeon to relay messages, with your ears shot, humiliated—like a man, you should’ve died rather than stupidly carry messages."

"I’m not resigned. I want revenge," Ade said fiercely, head lowered.

Mahavi glanced meaningfully at Ade, then reprimanded, "We’re supposed to be kings of the forest, holding the upper hand in woodland warfare, but you led your men into a trap, blindsided by the enemy. You incompetently failed to notice them right under your nose, you idiot, understand?"

"I... I... I..." Ade stammered, truly at a loss for words.

Was he really incompetent?

Not necessarily.

He had been very cautious leading the reconnaissance team, he wasn’t careless.

It was merely that the enemy’s stealth was so superb, catching him off guard. Had it been a frontal fight instead of close combat, his reconnaissance team would certainly have driven the enemy into panic, rather than end up like this.

To confess the enemy’s strength was galling, for he too had pride.

Thus, there was no sense in arguing, having suffered such losses; words were useless.

"Fool!" Mahavi cursed, then inquired, "What message did the enemy send through you?"

"The man said the Peng Bird is coming, and Black Shark should prepare to meet his death," Ade revealed without hesitation.

"What? The Peng Bird?" Mahavi exclaimed in surprise, "That lunatic found Master Black Shark?"

Ade instantly felt uneasy, timidly stating, "You know the Peng Bird?"

"Three days ago, in the Underworld, someone issued an assassination mission, a high-bounty task targeting five leaders’ heads. Ultimately, a guy named Peng Bird accepted the mission," Mahavi explained, slightly anxious.

"Is the Peng Bird really strong?" Ade abandoned the thought of urging Mahavi to launch an attack to eliminate the enemy; given that the enemy came prepared and shocked Mahavi, it seemed their backing was considerable, requiring caution.

He now had to act prudently; he wanted revenge to cleanse previous disgrace, but first he must survive.

"The Peng Bird is mysterious; few know his identity; he survives through assassinating key figures," Mahavi said. "In the Asian region, especially Southeast Asia, the Peng Bird is a renowned, powerful, and enigmatic presence."

"So formidable, no wonder I had no opportunity to retaliate," Ade’s astonishment deepened as he asked, "What do we do now?"

"Withdraw, retreat, deliver this message to Master Black Shark," Mahavi ordered decisively.

The group promptly took action, exiting their concealed woodland position.

...

"The Peng Bird is coming, haha, interesting, very interesting." Black Shark’s face was filled with murderous intent.

Mahavi and Ade were by Black Shark’s side, relaying the message Ye Fan sent to Black Shark.

Black Shark’s current location was in a cave covered by dense forest.

"Master Black Shark, how do we respond now?" Mahavi asked respectfully.

"Originally planning to show the Huaxia special forces some strength, making them pay for constantly hunting us, now the trap is laid, waiting for the prey, yet unexpectedly, the Peng Bird has descended, targeting me," Black Shark said. "Since the Peng Bird has made a move, naturally, I will engage. I’m rather curious to experience this so-called Peng Bird, to see his true capabilities." Black Shark expressed a fighting spirit, seemingly unconcerned about Peng Bird.

"Five leaders, whether the enemy is the real Peng Bird or an impostor, we don’t know; should we be cautious? If by chance they’re Huaxia people disguised as Peng Bird to deal with us, aiming to confuse us and dismantle the trap, we’ve fallen for it," Ade babbled. "Besides, using those three Huaxia bodies, we’ve prepared our kill zone, and cancelling the trap for an uncertain Peng Bird is too regrettable."

"The possibility that Huaxia special forces learned of this Underworld assassination news, disguising as Peng Bird, isn’t absent," Mahavi said. "I think we need more probing to determine if they’re truly Peng Bird."

"The enemy are experts; you’ve already seen this firsthand, while I haven’t experienced their prowess yet," Black Shark commented indifferently. "I suspect the Peng Bird will soon come scouting. Have our men hide, and upon identifying suspicious targets approaching, immediately kill without reporting."

"Understood! I’ll issue the order and arrange the kill zone!" Mahavi replied coldly.

"And don’t dismantle the kill zone prepared for the Huaxia special forces; let them stand by without exposure," Black Shark instructed again.

"Yes!" Mahavi promised.

Black Shark was already rubbing his hands, preparing for a battle. He was eager to test how bold Peng Bird was, to dare accept a mission against the entire Poison Dragon Mercenary Corps.

"Peng Bird, haha, ridiculous, dare to challenge the Poison Dragon Mercenary Corps," Black Shark mocked.
