Chapter 1380: Surrender
Chapter 1380: Surrender
In the forest, two groups were running at full speed. The weeds on the ground, trampled by the urgent footsteps, were deformed, making quite a racket.
One group numbered more than twenty, while the other had only seven people.
The larger group was naturally the Black Cat special forces under Ma De’s command.
The group of seven was naturally Ye Fan and his team.
The larger group was fleeing, while the smaller group of seven was pursuing.
This scene in the forest appeared somewhat comical to onlookers.
The Black Cat special forces, though large in number, had become prey, being hunted by seven Hunters, in a truly embarrassing situation.
Occasionally sparse gunshots rang out, startling birds in the uninhabited mountains.
The Black Cat special forces were no longer as carefree as before, now left with only panic and embarrassment.
In terms of numbers, they had a certain advantage, but compared to their peak, their numbers had halved.
"Commander, this can’t go on like this."
"We have to think of something, otherwise, we won’t make it thirty miles before we’re completely hunted down."
"Originally, we were Hunters, who set traps to destroy the target, but now we’ve become the prey."
"Even if we leave a few people behind to launch a desperate counterattack to delay the enemy’s pursuit and gain some time, it’s still not enough time. Whoever stays behind will die, and won’t buy time for the others to escape."
As Ma De and his team fled, several companions voiced their concerns.
This was an ironclad fact; no one could deny the perilous situation they were in.
"What else can we do? Just escape for now and then think of something," Ma De said helplessly. "Who could have thought it would turn out like this? Those seven guys, why don’t they just do their job? We’ve already fled, but they keep chasing us as if they have nothing better to do."
"How could they not chase?" one person said bitterly. "We’ve angered them; it’s hard to resolve this peacefully."
"Even though they didn’t suffer any casualties, we overestimated ourselves trying to eliminate them. Now we’ve angered a formidable enemy, so why wouldn’t they hunt us down?" Another person said with a sense of desolation.
Someone else said, "Running away like this isn’t a solution; we’re bound to walk into the lion’s den. We’re like the lamb now."
"We can only take it one step at a time, escape a certain distance, and then we’ll see," Ma De said, quite troubled.
"No matter how much we run, we can’t escape the Hunters’ guns." One person sighed resignedly.
Now, Ma De and the others were truly out of options; apart from fleeing blindly, they couldn’t think of any solution.
Leaving some people behind to counterattack the enemy would be suicide, and wouldn’t buy much time. The remaining people wouldn’t get far before being caught again; given this scenario, it wouldn’t achieve anything practically.
Ye Fan and his team had no intention of letting the enemy off, maintaining their stance of pursuit.
If they let the enemy escape, it would be quite disappointing. The Black Cat ambushed them, and now after losing, they’re running away. Letting them leave would be senseless.
Such vendettas naturally have to be repaid tooth for a tooth; that’s the survival rule in the Underworld.
This pursuit was simple: the Black Cat couldn’t escape, and Ye Fan and his team wouldn’t show any mercy.
After ten minutes, Ma De and his team looked at the enemy not far behind them and dared not run any further. Instead, they chose a location to ambush, presenting themselves as confronting the enemy.
If they continued fleeing like this, it would lead to endless trouble; they only faced certain death from the bullets behind them.
Wanting to escape had become nearly impossible, with no chance left.
Ye Fan and his team each took cover, preparing for battle.
"Commander, what should we do now?" one person next to Ma De asked urgently.
Everything was decided by Ma De, and now this choice left the others perplexed.
"Order everyone to rest, and don’t make any preparations to snipe the enemy," Ma De said resolutely. "We can only beg for mercy and hope to escape this disaster."
"Don’t prepare for sniping? How is that possible? Are we just waiting to be slaughtered?" someone asked in confusion.
"It’s precisely to avoid letting the enemy see that we’re prepared to snipe. If we resist further, it would raise the enemy’s suspicion, which would be troublesome. Follow my instructions, and don’t act rashly." Ma De said.
Regarding Ma De’s decision, there were quite a few opinions among the others; abandoning combat represented a bad signal.
However, after Ma De reiterated his point, the others could only follow orders.
Ma De tore off a white shirt from his body, using a gun to raise it as a simple flag of surrender.
"Commander, what are you doing?" The others’ eyes turned red, angrily saying, "We’d rather die than surrender."
"Exactly, we absolutely cannot show weakness, or surrender."
"If this gets out, what face will we have left? The reputation of the Black Cat special forces will be ruined; for the sake of reputation, we all can die in battle, but we mustn’t surrender."
"What does death matter? The prestige of the Black Cat can’t be tarnished."
Seeing Ma De’s action, the others turned pale and each became outraged.
"If we die, the Black Cat is finished; reputation counts for nothing, and losing to those seven, we are defeated with honor." Ma De said decisively.
"Commander..." The others looked sorrowful, mixed emotions on their faces.
"There’s no need to say anymore; everyone just listen to me," Ma De shouted.
Then he stood out, holding the flag of surrender made from the white shirt, openly visible to Ye Fan and his team.
"Esteemed heroes, I represent Black Cat to surrender to you. Let any past unpleasantness and grudges vanish into smoke. Can we resolve this feud privately?" Ma De shouted. "You all haven’t suffered any casualties; we’ve sustained severe losses. Continuing this fight will only bring more casualties to us. Hence, we willingly show weakness to hope you accept our apology."
Ye Fan and his team, witnessing this scene, each had faces of incredulity.
"He’s really willing to go all out, able to swallow such humiliation; it’s truly not simple." Zhang Lu clicked his tongue.
"Abandoning reputation isn’t something ordinary people can do. Once reputation is ruined, everything is ruined, becoming a laughingstock." Yang Shu remarked curiously.
"Bear in mind, Black Cat represents M Nation; Black Cat’s conduct will lose all honor." Shen Tingting said, "I reckon they did this out of necessity. Even if they suffer losses, they don’t want Black Cat to be delisted. If Black Cat truly gets delisted by us, that would have a massive impact."
