Chapter 69 Why did you go to find him?
Chapter 69 Why did you go to find him?
When Lim Yoona returned home, the entire house was pitch black.
She didn't turn on the light, but walked into the bedroom in the dark and locked the door behind her.
Without changing her clothes or removing her makeup, she collapsed onto the bed, burying her face in the pillow.
Liu Zimu's voice still echoed in his mind: "Where were you during her most difficult time?"
She turned over and stared at the ceiling in the dim city light.
When she met Choi Sulli, Choi Sulli was still a tiny little girl, and she was incredibly cute.
After he debuted on his own, he became increasingly busy and saw Choi Sulli less and less.
When Sulli left the group, she was filming and only saw the news.
When Sulli was being criticized, she was on tour overseas. She felt upset when she saw the comments, but her manager was urging her to go on stage. She had her phone in her pocket and forgot about it while she was busy.
I gradually got used to it.
I've gotten used to her being criticized, used to her outrageous behavior, and used to seeing her name in the news and then scrolling past it.
She's not her close friend, and she has no obligation to watch over her 24/7.
But Liu Zimu is right.
She didn't really do anything. Although it wasn't her obligation, she really couldn't warn Liu Zimu as an older sister.
We are all adults and have our own choices.
She turned over and pulled the blanket over her face.
My phone suddenly vibrated.
She reached over and glanced at it; it was a message from Kwon Yuri: [Yoona, let's go for a drink, the usual place.]
Another message was posted: [Sooyoung is coming too, it's been so long since we got together.]
Yoona typed a line, then deleted it, finally replying with just one word: "Okay."
She sat up, turned on the light, and re-tied her hair in front of the mirror.
Her makeup was a mess, so she wiped it with a wet wipe, but it only made it worse, so she just dried it off.
She went makeup-free, changed into a black hoodie, and put on a down jacket.
The old place is a barbecue restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, not on the main street.
The shop wasn't big, but the proprietress knew them and always reserved the innermost private room for them. Once the sliding door was closed, they couldn't see anything from the outside.
When Lim Yoona arrived, Kwon Yuri was already there.
She was wearing a black turtleneck sweater, her hair was casually tied in a bun, and she wasn't wearing much makeup. Her skin was still that healthy light tan color, and she looked a little unhappy today.
The pork belly on the grill was sizzling, and oil splattered out, landing on the edge of the grill and burning into small flames.
"You're here?" Kwon Yuri looked up at her. "Why are your eyes red?"
"I didn't sleep well." Lim Yoona took off her down jacket and draped it over the back of the chair before sitting down.
Kwon Yuri didn't ask any further questions, and put the cut pork belly into her bowl: "Eat first, Sooyoung will be here soon."
The moment the words were spoken, the sliding door was opened.
Choi Soo-young was dressed rather seductively. She squeezed in, took off her down jacket and threw it aside, then leaned against Kwon Yuri.
"worn out."
Kwon Yuri pushed her away: "Sit properly, the meat is getting cold."
Cui Xiuying sat up straight, picked up her chopsticks, took a piece of pork belly, dipped it in sauce, wrapped it in lettuce, and stuffed it into her mouth.
"Yoona, what happened to your face?" she asked, her words muffled by chewing meat. "Did someone hit you?"
"You must be feeling unwell," Kwon Yuri answered for her, pouring a glass of soju and pushing it in front of Lim Yoona.
Choi Soo-young slowed her chewing, her eyes darting between the two of them. She swallowed what was in her mouth, picked up her wine glass, and said, "Let's have a drink first."
The three men clinked glasses. The liquor was different from beer; it was a bit spicy.
Choi Soo-young put down her cup and wiped her mouth with a tissue: "Okay, what's wrong?"
Yoona stared at the meat on the grill. The edges of the pork belly were already crispy and charred, and the oil was still oozing out.
"Today, Taeyeon unnie, Sunny unnie, and I went to see Sulli."
Kwon Yuri paused, her hand holding the meat in her mouth. "Weren't you guys going to cheer on the team?"
"And then?" Choi Soo-young asked casually.
"Then I met Liu Zimu."
Choi Soo-young frowned: "Who?"
"Sulli's boyfriend," Kwon Yuri said, "is a Chinese man who owns a coffee shop."
"Oh, that person." Choi Sooyoung remembered. "I think I've heard something about him. The one Sulli caused a scene at the company? The one who cooked on the set of 'Running Man'?"
"He's living with Sulli now." Lim Yoona picked up her glass and took another sip. "I spoke to him for a bit."
"What did you say?" Choi Soo-young put down her chopsticks, leaned back in her chair, and crossed her arms.
Lim Yoona paused for a few seconds: "I told him he's Sulli's boyfriend, and to behave himself so I don't find anything against him."
Choi Soo-young raised an eyebrow: "You're certainly meddling in other people's business."
"Then he retaliated against me." Lim Yoona's tone was very calm. "He asked where I was when Sulli was being criticized, where I was during her most difficult time."
The private room fell silent.
The pork belly on the grill was still sizzling, with oil splattering onto the hot plate.
Kwon Yuri didn't say anything, but picked up her glass of soju and took a sip, feeling even more upset.
Cui Xiuying didn't say anything, but lowered her head and used her chopsticks to stir the lettuce in her bowl.
The three of them remained silent for a while.
In the end, Kwon Yuri spoke first: "I know some things about Sulli and him."
Both Yoona and Sooyoung looked up at her.
"I ran into Sulli at the company a few days ago." Kwon Yuri put down her glass and twirled her finger along the rim. "It was the day Sooyoung said she caused a scene at the company."
She paused, then continued, "Sulli kissed him in front of Bae Joo-hyun in their practice room because of her. Later, she went to the president's office and had a fight with him, and when she came out, she was still laughing."
"She's so vibrant, completely different from how she used to be."
Choi Soo-young quickly chimed in, "Oh my, you mean Sulli's change is related to that Liu Zimu, and Bae Joo-hyun is going to steal her man? That's interesting."
Yoona said softly, "I guess there's another one, Rosé, from BLACKPINK."
Choi Soo-young covered her mouth: "Damn! No way? This man is that amazing?"
Lin Yoona didn't say anything, staring at the pork belly on the grill, and took another sip.
Kwon Yuri smiled and pointed to her phone: "You can search it yourself! Keywords: Park Chae-young, coffee shop owner..."
Choi Sooyoung quickly picked up her phone, while Kwon Yuri put a piece of meat on Im Yoona's plate: "So, you warned Liu Zimu?"
Yoona nodded.
Kwon Yuri picked up her glass and pointed it at Im Yoona: "And when Liu Zimu asked you a question, you had nothing to say, right?"
Lim Yoona picked up her wine glass, clinked it with hers, downed it in one gulp, and said nothing.
Kwon Yuri poured her another glass of wine and pushed it towards her; this time it was full.
"You have no right, but you still interfere." She stated it as if it were a fact, "You can't get over it because what he said was wrong, not because he was wrong, but because what he said was too right."
Yoona did not refute.
Choi Sooyoung put down her phone: "Ugh, even if he's right, the way he acts with Bae Joo-hyun and Park Chae-young really deserves to be criticized. Is he running a coffee shop or a harem?"
Yoona lowered her head and took a bite of the meat. After chewing it a couple of times, she found it bitter, unsure whether it was because the meat was burnt or because of the aftertaste of soju.
"It seems he doesn't! He looked scared when he saw Bae Joo-hyun's expression. And you just saw the video, he looked so disgusted with Park Chae-young."
Choi Soo-young paused, her drink still: "I don't see anything good about this man."
Kwon Yuri's lips curled into a bitter smile, as if she were thinking of something: "That's not something we should know. We're all very busy, and we haven't been able to care enough for Sulli, but it's not Yoona's fault. In this industry, we're lucky if we can even take care of ourselves."
She paused for a moment: "What I'm more curious about is why you took the initiative to go to him."
Yoona shook her head: "I was just curious, and I happened to run into him, so I couldn't resist."
Choi Soo-young and Kwon Yuri exchanged a glance, smiled, and said nothing.
They wouldn't think that Yoona wanted to get involved; Yoona is such a clear-headed person.
