Chapter 732: THE CHALLENGER
Chapter 732: THE CHALLENGER
The Alpha’s Unwanted Bride
The beautiful bird galloped into the bright blue sky and its golden beautiful wings against the sun, the same way it had done when it fell.
Except now, it was flying into the air.
It was such a beautiful sight to behold.
My heart leaped with joy, knowing that I had healed it.
The eagle screamed with joy.
My eyes went down to the gaze around me, whilst my face fell instantly.
Right before me was the thunderous gaze of the man who had hurt the bird.
My stomach dropped.
I cursed under my breath.
His silver eyes had widened so slightly.
The men behind him looked at us.
I wasn’t sure whether they had seen what I had done or not.
"How the hell did you do that?" He demanded.
I swallowed and placed a heavy frown on my face.
"Do what?" I asked, feigning confusion.
"The bird." He snapped at me
"What bird?" I replied sharply.
He looked as though he wanted to throttle me there and then.
"Don’t give me that!" He snapped at me, and I maintained my composure, refusing to let him intimidate me. "The bird that was dying ten seconds ago.
I shrugged indifferently
"Perhaps it decided dying was inconvenient."
"The very same bird that you climbed a fucking wall for in the most unladylike manner to save, and harass me for, all of a sudden found dying was inconvenient?" He charged back through flared nostrils. "It wasn’t just dying. It was dead."
I derived pleasure in knowing that at least he had a side of him that could be taunted.
I put my hands on my waist and faced him authoritatively before saying sarcastically. "Good heavens, my great Alpha. I had no idea you had noticed any of this. I had assumed that you didn’t care? Didn’t you say you could do as you liked? So how did you notice the bird was dead?"
"Don’t play games with me." He clicked his fingers at me.
"Then stop asking ridiculous questions." I hissed back.
He took a step closer, and my heart stopped
"I saw the wound." He sneered
"Congratulations," I said even though my heart had gone from stopping to racing faster than usual.
"It healed." He said.
"Amazing."
"It was dead."
"Hallelujah," I replied.
He looked at me in horror
"You’re impossible."
"I’ve heard that before," I said.
We both stood in front of each other, neither of us refusing to break stare.
I wasn’t going to let a silly nobody like him, who had almost killed a poor creature, intimidate me.
And then willpower took over me.
I took my hands down from my waist and poked his chest.
"Now you look here. I don’t care who you are or who you know you. You don’t own or control me. No one does. You shot down that poor bird, but the goddess saved its life. You wish to go around telling everyone a girl brought a dead animal back to life; you’re delusional. They will call you insane. You have no one who would believe you. Not even your high-ranking daddy, who might be the friend of the gamma to this pack, can save you. No one can. So mind your tongue."
And with that, I turned my back on him and began to march away.
"Get back here." He snapped as he caught my arm and drew me to him.
I jerked free in an instant before using my elbow to knock his nose.
He stumbled back, and there he was, bleeding again.
This was the second one I had given him today.
I dare say I pushed past my boundaries more than usual today.
But I couldn’t blame myself.
He was so insufferable.
This time he didn’t ask the other wolves who stood with him to charge or stop.
They all started rushing towards me.
I raced up the wall and expertly used the vines to climb.
They growled and snapped down at me, while I hurriedly went up.
I finally reached the top and looked back down at them.
They attempted to climb, but the vines broke in their tight grip, and they stumbled back down.
Being light and buoyant, and an expert climber, was a real advantage for me.
I looked down at the blonde boy and relished in his angry face.
I laughed and went down to the other side of the wall.
In a matter of seconds, I was back down to the ground.
I picked up my basket hurriedly and went off in the direction of the gates.
I rushed to where my horse was, mounted her, and began racing off.
I looked behind me and saw them in the distance, yelling back at me.
I laughed knowing that I would most definitely be caught, but for the meantime, I had best steer clear of the pack house.
I smiled to myself.
Today had been a unique adventure. I had met a male wolf who turned out to be friendly and not weird in the forest.
Bale.
And then I found another wolf who had turned out to be a prancing peacock who believed the world revolved around him.
"Stupid, dumb wolves," I swore.
I detested wolves who came from high-ranking families because all they did was care about no one but themselves.
"Arrogant bastard," I mumbled to myself again.
Penny neighed in agreement.
"Exactly. I knew you would understand me." I said as I gently rubbed her side.
I decided to follow the market this time; my mother would catch me red-handed if I followed the forest again, and I wouldn’t hear the last of it.
The entire journey home, I couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Not because he was handsome or anything.
Because he was insufferable.
The worst of all men, and I had seen and met horrible men.
I prayed to the goddess that I would never see his proud, egotistical, stupid perfect face ever again.
Because if I did, I would hang him
