Chapter 61 The Disappearance of Thor's Hammer!

Chapter 61 The Disappearance of Thor's Hammer!

Filming in New Mexico is nearing its end.

After a few more shots, the crew will head back to Los Angeles to film the remaining interior scenes.

Work starts in the morning.

The props team rushed to director Branagh, their faces pale.

"Director, something's happened! Thor's hammer is missing!"

The set instantly erupted in chaos.

This hammer is no ordinary tool.

It's an important filming tool meticulously crafted by Marvel, quite valuable, and many shots are filmed with it.

Surprisingly, everyone's first reaction was the same: all eyes turned to Chris Hemsworth, who was putting on makeup.

Chris had just put on his blonde wig when he heard the news and was stunned. Seeing everyone's gazes, he immediately jumped up from his chair, raised his hands, and looked completely innocent.

"Hey! Hey! What are you looking at me for? It really wasn't me this time! I swear!"

His reaction was not without reason.

He did mention wanting to steal the hammer when he was drunk before, and given that he was always inseparable from the hammer on set, he is the prime suspect.

Director Branagh frowned deeply, walked up to Chris, and said in a serious tone:

"Chris, this is no joke. Where is the hammer?"

"Director! I swear to Odin and my surfboard!"

Chris was so anxious that his Australian accent came out, and his expression was exaggerated:

"I went straight to my room after work last night, I didn't even go to a bar! Besides, why would I steal it? To use it as a dumbbell to build muscle?"

Seeing that everyone still looked doubtful, he gritted his teeth and pulled out the room key:

"Don't believe me? Go ahead and search my room! Search all you want! If you find anything, I'll donate my next movie salary to Marvel!"

Seeing his confident yet somewhat exasperated demeanor, everyone began to waver.

Chris may be a bit of a troublemaker, but this shouldn't be the case.

Just then, a purple attribute orb fell from Chris's body:

[Feeling guilty +4]

Chen Xun was taken aback!

Could it really be Chris who took it?

That guy is really bold!

"Could it be that some die-hard fan snuck in?"

Jamie Alexander, who plays Sif, speculated.

"Or were they swept away by a sandstorm?"

Kat Dennings made an inappropriate joke and was lightly nudged by Natalie with her elbow.

She then realized she had said the wrong thing and quickly shut up.

The scene was in complete chaos, and filming was about to be delayed.

The producer's face was as black as the bottom of a pot, and he kept making phone calls, probably reporting to Marvel headquarters.

Chen Xun stood on the periphery of the crowd, remaining silent. He carefully observed everyone's reactions, especially Chris's.

Chris looked like he wanted to tear his heart out to prove his innocence; it really didn't seem like acting.

Just then!

The props manager wiped his sweat, as if he had suddenly remembered something, and whispered a few words in director Branagh's ear.

Director Branagh's expression shifted several times, from anxiety to helplessness, before finally letting out a long sigh and rubbing his temples.

He picked up the walkie-talkie and said weakly:

"Alright, stop guessing. Notify the backup equipment team to bring out the spare hammer!"

"A spare?"

Chris's eyes widened.

Soon, several prop team members carried over a hammer that looked exactly like Thor's hammer.

Upon closer inspection, the wood grain and metallic sheen of this hammer appear to be slightly newer than the previous one, but it is still extremely realistic.

"We have spares for every important item, just in case this happens."

The props manager explained awkwardly:

"It's just that the weight of this spare hammer is slightly different, so the feel when swinging it might be slightly different from the original one."

Chris took the spare hammer, weighed it in his hand, swung it a couple of times, and frowned.

"It is a little different; the center of gravity seems to be slightly off."

For an actor who needs to perform a lot of action scenes, changes in the feel of props are very important.

"Just make do with it for now, Chris."

Director Branagh waved wearily: "It's better than stopping filming!"

"Security will continue to investigate the disappearance of the hammer. Now, all departments, get ready. Let's hurry and film the next shot!"

The controversy has temporarily subsided, and filming has resumed.

The day's filming has ended.

Although the spare hammer was usable, everyone was still preoccupied with the missing original, and their eyes held a hint of suspicion as they looked at each other.

Chris was even more dejected, feeling that his dignity as Thor had been insulted.

On the way back to the hotel after work.

Chris quickened his pace to catch up with Chen Xun, put his arm around his shoulder, and spoke with a rare seriousness in his voice:

"Chen, have a drink with me! I don't want to stay here another day."

Seeing that he was indeed depressed, Chen Xun nodded in agreement.

The two didn't go to the restaurant, but went directly to the small living room in Chris's room.

Chris took a few bottles of beer from the mini-fridge, handed one to Chen Xun, and then downed most of it himself.

"Fuck, which bastard did this?"

Chris wiped his mouth: "Let me take the blame, but don't let me find out who it is!"

Chen Xun clinked bottles with him: "The production crew will investigate thoroughly!"

"Let's hope so!"

Chris took another sip, then suddenly changed the subject, his eyes flickering slightly:

"By the way, Chen, you're going back tomorrow. Do you have a lot of luggage?"

"It's alright, just one big suitcase and one carry-on bag!"

Chen Xun didn't think much of it.

"That's great!"

Chris slapped his thigh and gave a knowing smile:

"Hey bro, can you do me a favor? I have a lot of random stuff over there, and my suitcase might be overweight!"

"Could you help me pack some of the food? Consider it a workout! Don't you kung fu practitioners all emphasize weight training?"

Chen Xun looked at him and felt that the reason was a bit far-fetched.

What is Chris's assistant doing?

And you use a suitcase for body training?

Has this Australian's brain been damaged by the hot desert winds?

"What is it?"

Chen Xun asked one more question.

"Huh? Just some clothes, souvenirs, and miscellaneous things."

Chris's eyes darted around for a moment, then he slapped Chen Xun hard on the back, so hard that Chen Xun grimaced.

"Don't worry! It's all lightweight stuff! It won't tire you out! It's settled then! I'll give it to you before you check it in tomorrow!"

Chen Xun was too preoccupied with the filming to think clearly, and having had a few drinks, he figured Chris might really be acting a bit neurotic because of the hammer incident, so he gave a vague reply:

"Alright, you can give it to me then."

"Good brother!"

Chris immediately beamed and opened another bottle of beer, handing it to Chen Xun.

"terrific!"

The two drank for a while longer.

Chris was mainly complaining and trying to prove his innocence, with Chen Xun occasionally chiming in.

After Chen Xun returned to his room, took a shower, and lay down, he vaguely felt that Chris's request to help with the luggage was a bit strange.

But he couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong.

"It's probably just my imagination!"

Chen Xun rolled over, putting his doubts out of his mind: "I guess he just doesn't want to pay the overweight fee."
